Extending ground spike that allows you to raise and lower the camera and rotate to fine-tune your positioning.

Use the drop down box to choose between:
  • 10-15cm length - Ideal for very small mammals like rodents or young hedgehogs
  • 20-30cm length - Ideal for smaller mammals like hedgehogs and rabbits
  • 30-50cm length - Ideal for medium sized mammals like Foxes and Badgers
  • 50-90cm length - Ideal for larger mammals like Deer

Fitted with a 1/4" threaded adapter that screws into the bottom of the camera (fits most cameras but if unsure please call us) the ground spike frees you from the constraints of mounting on a tree trunk. Easily pushes into the ground and allows you to get your camera in amongst the wildlife action!

Note #1: Do not push the spike into the ground with the camera already mounted on it as you risk damaging the mounting point on the base of the camera, the correct procedure is as follows:
  • Undo the thumb wheel on the side and take the central rod out of the outer spike
  • Push the outer spike into the ground - a few inches is fine (see Note #4)
  • Screw the central rod into the mounting point on the base of the camera
  • Place the central rod and camera back into the outer spike and tighten the thumb-wheel at the desired height

Note #2: These items are hand assembled by us and are unique to Wild View Cameras, as such there may be some marks on the black paintwork where the internal rod is gripped in a vice whilst the camera adapter is screwed in. These marks are purely cosmetic and do not affect the operation of the spike in any way.

Note #3: The Large spike is a chromed metal adapter that screws into the camera base and will tarnish over time, (other sizes are brass) to help stop this, apply a thin layer of grease, Vaseline or petroleum gel.

Good points:
Before I knew about this I was balancing the camera on bricks. This holds it nice and steady and its so easy adjusting the height

Good points:
A good solid support that holds a camera firmly. It comes in two sections allowing a range of heights for the camera without the need to remove the spike in the ground.
Bad points:
Little used to date but indications are that the chromed metal adapter will as with the 30-50cm spike rust fairly quickly. A better quality of chrome is required on this adapter.

Whist it is mentioned that the chromed metal adapter will tarnish over time I did not expect it to show significant signs of rust within the first 24 hours of use. A better quality of chrome is required on this adapter.

Good points:
These spikes have made it much easier and faster to set up the trail camera than tying it onto trees and other fixtures. They have made the choice of camera position far more versatile than before, and they are unobtrusive and robust, leading to some great wildlife pictures. These are great and well worth it.
Bad points:
Advice on setting them up correctly needs to be in information sent out with the spikes. I checked on the website - before using them - where there were important instructions to put the bottom half of the spike into the ground first and fix the top part to the camera separately, then add that on with the camera attached when the bottom half is firmly in the ground. Rather than put the whole lot together and push it into the ground. Perhaps the only other improvement could be the adjusting wheel having some kind of limit so that it doesn't come out completely and ping off while setting up the top half and adjusting the height.
